Night at the museum
National Maritime Museum Cornwall required a distinct look and feel for their ‘Night at the Museum’ fundraising gala dinner. With the audience made up of high net worth individuals, including royalty, it was essential that the tone of the event’s literature was different from the museums usual family demographic.
Foundry developed a strong sub-brand that took the existing museum logo and flipped it into night against a moon creating an instant icon at the centre of the identity. The identity was applied across multiple print and packaging applications with premium print finishes – from foiled blocked invitations in black envelopes to menu cards with translucent dust jackets.

A special finish
We commissioned a bespoke wax embosser used to hand seal each invitation envelope with silver both reflecting the nautical nature of the museum and inspired by ships scrolls. A tracing paper dust jacket was wrapped around the event’s brochure cleverly showing the boat against the moon but also allowing the jacket to be removed after the event giving the brochures greater longevity.

A lasting legacy
The coherent identity and attention to detail on the printed items maximised use of the materials for future fundraising. The audience engaged with the event successfully. It went on to raise over £40,000 for the museum – being their single most successful event to date.
