The First Wave
The British Museum of Surfing wanted to secure the heritage of UK surfing for future generations by recording and documenting the lives of UK surfing pioneers. We worked with their team to develop a fun and engaging way of displaying this information in a compact, modular touring exhibition that embodied surfing culture.
We provided concept development through to wire frames, UI/UX and graphic implementation. With a wealth of video and audio clips to work from the focus was to provide the visitor with an easily accessible visual front end to the large database of clips. To achieve this we specified large touchscreens scrollable with thematic timelines searchable by person, year, location and theme.

Functionality & adaptability
To fit with the retro 60s inspired surfing graphic look and feel we created a range of modular units constructed from reclaimed scaffolding boards. These were sprayed with a laser cut stencil of the exhibition logo and flush mount touchscreens fitted. The units were finished with chunky castors allowing for easy transportability with installs at three different museum spaces.
