National Maritime Museum Cornwall wanted to target a wider family audience with exhibitions in their new gallery. We collaborated with them from marketing through to exhibition design to deliver an energetic, cinematic, immersive new experience with great emphasis on visitor interactivity. A world away from traditional museum installations.

The marketing campaign used a lead image of a rescuer ‘reaching out’ and was applied across all promotional materials. This striking image was combined with distinctive typography echoing dramatic cinema posters, rather than museum exhibits, to increase visitor appeal to families.


From concept to reality

The initial creative concept developed was ‘lines of communication’ – the common thread linking all types of rescues. We physically linked the exhibits together with lines running across floors, walls and objects using fluorescent colours providing a striking visual look and feel.
